About Zachary Drew

I am an enthusiastic, detail-oriented problem solver with a reputation for tackling large and difficult problems. With over 20 years of experience, I bring a wide range of inter-disciplinary skills to the table which enables me to think outside of the box and deliver defensible, repeatable, and accurate solutions. I have a unique ability to quickly grasp complex technical challenges and discuss them across varying technical backgrounds. A solid foundation in analytics and data processing allows me to gain key insights in a short time frame by enabling direct consumption and assimilation of client input. I am highly creative and have an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. This drives me on a deeply personal level to grow and learn new skills in order to accomplish tasks and reach my goals. Historically I have worked with fortune 50 companies in the financial and insurance sector on their migration to public cloud. In addition to strategy development, I have also been involved in the engineering and delivery. This has included both lift and shift as well as refactoring, detailed IAM architecture, consulting on a wide array of services and production solutions, and integration of on-prem resources with public cloud resources. I have recently discovered an affinity towards leadership and find working with and directing teams of talented people to deliver products energizing. As a technical manager I still get to \"get my hands dirty\" but work more collaboratively with jr resources and provide mentorship and guidance to help my team grow and strengthen their skillsets. Recent projects include cloud native data ingestion pipelines for processing external data sets on a monthly basis with full CDC and batch processing capabilities, as well as continuing to work with HPC clusters and strategic cloud migrations. I have also begun to shift my industry alignment from fintech to manufacturing, aerospace, and smart factory technology. As a maker, I find this work to be far more interesting and aligned to my personal passions. My personal interests range from Astronomy and Astrophotography, to Home Improvement, Additive Manufacturing, and Ceramics. Current personal projects include building an AllSky Camera, PiFinder, portable raspberry pi arduino devkit (project vagabond), basement remodel, and long term development planning which will include adding additional shop space, a greenhouse, and garden areas to my property.
