ABOUT VENKATESH KARRY
From a young age, I’ve always been fascinated by gadgets. Growing up, I worked in my father’s bag manufacturing shop and learned to stitch bags and use mechanical tools by the time I was in 7th grade. At the same age, I started dismantling every new electronic gadget I could get my hands on just to see what was inside. Some got damaged along the way, earning me a few scoldings! By 12th grade, I built my own rechargeable light using LEDs and a Nokia battery. It provided a 5-hour backup during power cuts, and I even sold a few to friends and local shops. This passion for electronics naturally led me to pursue engineering, but I mistakenly joined the mechanical stream. Despite this, my love for electronics and coding remained strong. I was recognized by my college’s electronics HOD for being more hands-on than many electronics students.In my 3rd year, I participated in the Escalade National Robotics Competition at IIT Guwahati, where my team won first prize! My college sponsored us with ₹50k for the finals, and this event became the turning point of my life. It was also a moment of regret—I wished I had joined an IIT. Meeting some amazing people there pushed me to learn embedded systems and dive deeper into programmable robotics.After graduating, I got placed at Hobel Bellows, but I left the job on the very first day because it didn’t align with my passion. I soon joined the Academy of Robotics, Hobbypep and Kriyative edge where I spent four years as a STEM facilitator. Eventually, I transitioned to product development, working on STEM kits for edtech companies, combining my love for innovation and education.Now, I’ve started #Mastinno Solutions, where we provide prototyping and manufacturing services to startups, students, and hobbyists. My journey has come full circle, turning a childhood passion into a business that helps others bring their ideas to life.
