ABOUT VENGA SARMA

I am a microeconomist specialising in the intersection of development and labour economics, focusing on addressing pressing socio-economic challenges. My research explores labour migration, forced displacement, income inequality, inclusive growth, and education policy reforms. My ongoing work examines the welfare impacts of displacement, the dynamics of growth and inequality, and the effectiveness of inclusive growth policies for vulnerable populations, with a particular emphasis on South and Southeast Asia. In addition to my research, I am passionate about teaching and currently deliver modules in introductory microeconomics, macroeconomics, and industrial economics. I aim to equip students with the analytical tools and insights needed to understand and address complex economic issues. I am committed to producing research that informs policy and contributes to sustainable, equitable development, while fostering a deeper understanding of economics through my teaching.
