ABOUT VELMURUGAN SUBRAMANIAN
Dr. Subramanian is an accomplished technical expert and project manager with over 27 years of planning, design, permitting, construction administration and project management experience in water and wastewater treatment projects including wastewater treatment facilities, bio-solids processing facilities, pump stations, sewer collection systems and water distribution systems. He was involved in several plant upgrades including process design, process evaluations, plant layout and hydraulics, equipment sizing, treatability/bench-scale/pilot studies, detailed engineering, preparation of plans and specifications, life cycle cost analysis, operation and maintenance training and plant startup. Dr. Subramanian is knowledgeable in the use of BioWin software for wastewater treatment process modeling, and has focused wastewater treatment process experience in biological treatment systems including sequencing batch reactors (SBR) and membrane bioreactors (MBR). He is conversant with the permitting process and various federal and state regulations and industry standards related to water environment. Dr. Subramanian has also been serving as an adjunct faculty at the George Washington University for the past six years teaching graduate courses on environmental chemistry, environmental microbiology, water treatment and industrial wastewater treatment. Currently, he serves as a State Representative of Commonwealth of Virginia for American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists (AAEES) and also serves on several national committees such as NSF Environmental Engineering Panel, NCEES Environmental Engineering Committee, and Water Environment Federation Municipal Wastewater Treatment Design Committee. He periodically makes technical presentations in national and local conferences, and has published several papers in the area of wastewater treatment systems.
