ABOUT VELMA FUNEBE
Hi there!I’m Velma Funebe, a student at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County, studying public health with a minor in entrepreneurship and innovation. At my core, I’m fascinated by the intersection of business, operational excellence, innovation, and how these forces shape the future of healthcare.🦾🩹I’m on a mission to explore 5 different industries before I graduate( so far so good ). I’ve journeyed through three thus far : Nonprofit – I started at LearnServe International, helping high school students around the world launch their own mini-nonprofits. Today, I co-lead my own called Community Action Project (CAP), expanding vocational training and reproductive education for vulnerable women and teens in Zambia. Clinical Research – I’ve supported diversity in clinical trials at Amgen and Merck, working to improve access to innovative medicines for underserved communities. Aerospace – At GE Aerospace, I learned the power of standard work and continuous improvement in a fast-paced supply chain environment.Beyond my internships, I’m a lifelong entrepreneur. I’ve run my hair braiding business BraidsbyVelma LLC for over six years, blending artistry, customer care, and business strategy.
