About Veerle Bergink
Clinical: specialized in bipolar disorder, perinatal psychiatry and psycho-neuro-immunology. Research interests include the treatment and neurobiology of postpartum psychosis, bipolar disorder and pregnancy and the immunology of mood disorders. Principal investigator for the OPPER study, a prospective postpartum psychosis study, currently the largest first-onset PP cohort in the world and PI for a national study in bipolar pregnant women. Her PhD thesis defense was awarded cum laude. Moreover, her clinical work was twice named by the publishing group of the NEJM as one of the 10 most important clinical studies in Psychiatry. She won several prestigous prices, the ramaer medal 2013 (most important research in clinical psychiatry) and the research price EUR 2015. She got a VENI-grant, a clinical fellow grant, a Rubicon grant and an EUR fellowship.Teaching: residents, medical students, midwives and postgraduate students.
