ABOUT VED KUMARI

I have joined as Vice Chancellor at National Law University Orissa since 20th March 2021 for a period of five years.I have been Professor of Law in Faculty of Law, University of Delhi, India since 2001 where I joined as lecturer in 1985.I worked as Professor-in-Charge of Law Centre-I from 1st August 2012 - 14th October 2013.I was the Chairperson of Delhi Judicial Academy from July 2009 to July 2011.I did my LL. M.(1981) and Ph. D. on the JUVENILE JUSTICE SYSTEM IN INDIA (1994) from the same university. I taught in the Faculty of Law in the University of Jammu during 19••••85. I was a Fulbright Fellow in Vanderbilt University, USA, in 1997, and team-taught a seminar course on Children and the Law with Professor Susan Brooks. I was also a Commonwealth Fellow in Warwick University in the UK in 1998, and did post-doctoral research on Juvenile Justice in the UK. I spent one year in Russia studying law and advocacy in relation to children in difficult circumstances in Russia.I am committed to promoting Justice in Legal Education by by highlighting issues relating to gender discrimination, poverty, human rights violations, children\'s rights, etc.Specialties: I have taught many courses at the undergraduate and graduate level and have supervised much research by graduate students and research scholars. I have many articles and research papers published in internationally acclaimed journals. Primary areas of my interest and publications are juvenile justice, criminal law, gender discrimination, clinical education, and judicial education.
