ABOUT VEDANT VYAS

I am a Deep Learning Researcher at Alberta Machine Intelligence Institute (Amii), where I work on some new novel ways to perform knowledge distillation from LLMs to small LMs. I am also pursuing a Bachelor of Science in (hons) Computer Science at the University of Alberta, with an expected graduation date of Dec 2024. Previously, I was a co-founder of ArcaneLost, a startup that aimed to create engaging and immersive media content on variety of topics. We had a team of 6 different domain experts who contributed to the website. I also gained valuable teaching and research experience as a teaching assistant and a research assistant at the University of Alberta, where I taught algorithms and ring theory, and worked on a unified MLIR dialect in collaboration with IBM. I am motivated by the challenges and opportunities that machine learning and artificial intelligence offer, and I aspire to contribute to the advancement of these fields. I believe that I can bring diverse perspectives and experiences to the team, as I have a multicultural background and a passion for learning and collaboration.
