WORK HISTORY
Director, International Programmes @Centre For Voters Initiative & Action
Washington, DC, US
We’re fighting to educate, engage, and empower young people in civic processes. The Centre for Voters Initiative & Action (CVIA) promotes respect for the electoral process globally — in a non-partisan way and in line with international and federal law. In times of democratic instability, we believe the only way to secure tomorrow is by involving the youth of today in government. Our work bridges local action with international advocacy. CVIA has authored and submitted reports to the United Nations Human Rights Committee and the Committee on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, pushing for stronger protections of electoral rights worldwide. Our research has been cited in UN reviews and published in official human rights journals, amplifying youth voices in global policymaking.Domestically, we drafted and introduced the High School Voter Empowerment Act in the U.S. Congress and helped pass legislation in Virginia to include media literacy in the state’s Standards of Learning. We also partner with schools to expand civic education, register young voters, and equip students with the knowledge and tools to engage meaningfully in democracy. At its heart, CVIA is a youth-driven movement. Through our work, we show that civic engagement isn’t just about voting, but about shaping the systems that make participation possible, from local classrooms to the international stage.
