ABOUT VEDA BALIGA
I have been involved with sustainable built environments for over 20 years with experience in the fields of architecture, engineering, academia and software development; to deliver a wide range of projects across Australia, India, UK and the Middle East. Overall, my experience has focused on occupant comfort and resource efficiency in buildings, circular resource networks in masterplans and resilient infrastructure. My recent work on complex masterplans has focused on evaluating circular urban resource “metabolism” to manage material and resource flows within the project site, minimise grid dependence and actively manage demand through the use of smart grids and decentralised utilities. As a result I have become more involved in the process of defining methodologies and creating products to undertake these types of complex analyses; using data to predict demand, improve resilience and future-proof developments to cope with increasing urbanisation and the growing impact of climate change.
