As the Director of Community Health Services for Public Health Seattle & King County, I am a leader in the organization and the community in the assurance of responsive and equitable health care services and supports throughout King County.My primary role is to serve as an authentic and transparent leader for the CHS Division, with responsibility for oversight, strategic direction, community connectiveness and operational priorities.Other responsibilities include:• building and maintaining strategic partnerships with Community Health Centers, hospitals, community-based organizations, and other health care and safety net providers;• developing and leading innovative community health programs;• designing and overseeing clinical operations at multiple public health centers and other community-based locations.CHS and COVIDDuring 2021, CHS was called upon to develop, implement, and manage major COVID-19 response strategies including testing and vaccinations. CHS will continue to play a major role in the County’s response to COVID.CHS Response to Racism as a Public Health CrisisCHS was also called upon to respond to the King County and PHSKC declaration that Racism is a Public Health Crisis and to intensify its work to advance racial equity and justice.The CHS Division Director has leadership responsibilities in responding to both of these public health emergencies.
