I\'ve spent 25 years in workforce planning - from contact centers to nuclear engineering. What I\'ve learned: the best plans don\'t just solve today\'s problems; they ask better questions about tomorrow\'s challenges.Currently Head of Strategic Resourcing at Cavendish Nuclear, I\'m focused on one of the UK\'s most pressing challenges: our critical infrastructure skills gap.Nuclear needs skilled workers by 2029. When you add adjacent sectors - renewables, wind, hydrogen, construction - we\'re looking at over skilled workers needed in the next four years.The question that keeps me up at night: who\'s putting all of this together? Who\'s looking at this holistically?I participate in the National Nuclear Skills Forum and research cross-sector workforce challenges. I\'m particularly interested in:• What \"strategic\" actually means in workforce planning (hint: most organisations are stuck in medium-term tactical thinking)• How we solve skills gaps when we can\'t recruit or train fast enough • The balance between firefighting and long-term thinking• The conversations we\'re not having about immigration and energy independenceI share my thinking on LinkedIn - not because I have all the answers, but because I believe we\'re asking the wrong questions.Previously spent 20+ years in contact centre workforce planning and consulting, working across multiple sectors.
