ABOUT VASURETHA CHANDAR
I’m a PhD researcher in Bioengineering at Northeastern University, working at the intersection of mechanobiology and pulmonary disease. My research focuses on understanding how cellular force generation drives fibroblast behavior and contribute to the progression of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. Through this work, I aim to uncover mechanobiological pathways that can be targeted for future therapies.Beyond the lab, I’m passionate about scientific community building. As the President of the Bioengineering Graduate Student Council, I’ve worked to establish mentorship programs that support PhD students across all stages of training. I’m especially interested in bridging the gap between academic research and translational impact through outreach, collaboration, and leadership.Lab Website: https://algae-gecko-ag5p.squarespace.com/Publications: https://scholar.google.com/citations?hl=en &
