About Vasundara Srinivasan
My passion for biotechnology was sparked during the COVID pandemic when there was a race to come up with a perfectly safe, efficient as well as effective formulation of a vaccine to combat the novel coronavirus. My interest lies in exploring molecular biology, bioinformatics, genetic engineering and biopharma drug development. I\'m particularly intrigued by an emerging field- computational medicine. I\'m open to learning and getting exposed to domains, diverse technologies, within the industry. During my internship at ICAR-NBAIR, I gained valuable experience in the genomics division. My internship primarily focused on the molecular biology work of insects, including DNA extraction from pink bollworm and spiders, along with RNA isolation techniques. I was actively involved in Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), gel electrophoresis allowing me to understand the intricacies of nucleic acid amplification and visualization.
