ABOUT VASANA MANEERATANA

Vasana’s life motto is “Miracles do happen.” This saying has shaped her life growing up from almost dying at birth to her non-linear life trajectory to her R&D packaging engineering position at Intel Corporation. She has had the fortune to be vigorously engaged in a variety of areas: semiconductors product development, robotics, advanced ceramics and fiber chemistry, lunar spacesuits, laser metrology, the James Webb Space telescope, and much more. She still serves as a champion for the American Association’s Advancement of Science Entrypoint program to continually help build and support the outstanding alumni of disabled scientists and engineers. She was a recipient of the NSF international Postdoctoral Research Fellow’s award as the lead researcher collaborating with the College de France and the Max Planck Institute. In addition, during her doctoral studies, she was awarded the NASA Harriet G. Jenkins Fellowship and graduated with her PhD at the University of Florida in the field of Materials Science and Engineering. Although she is currently living in the desert of Phoenix, Arizona, she misses the warm beaches near her home in Florida, where she was a child of immigrants that tirelessly worked to provide a new beginning for a kid that wasn’t supposed to live past seven days.
