ABOUT CHRISTOS V.

Hello. I\'m a social anthropologist and my work focuses on archives, publics, the commons and the cultural sector. I love working with socially-minded people and organisations, especially on issues relating to opening, diversifying, decolonizing and democratizing knowledge. And, I love listening to people\'s stories. I hold a PhD awarded by Freie Universität Berlin and I have 15+ years of professional experience in research, education, project management and communication in the social and the cultural sector. Currently I work as Partnerships Manager at Wikimedia Germany (WMDE) and I\'m responsible for fostering partnerships with international institutions from the cultural and knowledge sectors. Previously I have co-founded the ‘Children\'s Photography Archive’ Community Interest Company, the first digital open archive featuring children’s photographic production internationally and advocating for children’s visual production as significant historical documents, artistic work and cultural artefacts. My work has been internationally recognised through invitations for public talks, interviews and invited articles, and it has attracted funding by the European Union (ERC and Horizon) and the German Federal Government (DFG). I have authored and co-authored more than 50 scientific articles and chapters in social, cultural and political science journals and edited volumes, and I have co-edited the books ‘Global Youth in Digital Trajectories’ and ‘Political Activism across the Life Course’. I write frequently in the press and in popular science outlets around those issues, as well as to advocate open-access to knowledge. I love socially-minded documentary films and I frequently act as curator for various film festivals in Europe. I have also curated photographic and multimedia exhibitions that cut across the arts and the social sciences.* The background image in my profile is a still from the wonderful videoclip of the \'Song of Elodie\', which was made as part of an EU campaign to promote Linked Open Data. I\'m totally on the side of Elodie :) Find the video here: https://youtu.be/9hZPWBNyLac
