Dr. Varuna Srinivasan is a physician by training with a degree in public health from Johns Hopkins University. With a strong focus on gender and sexuality, her work emphasizes the importance of understanding how social constructs impact individual rights and access to healthcare.Her work focuses on exploring the connections between individual rights and broader social justice issues, advocating for systemic changes to achieve equity and inclusion. As a vocal advocate for queer liberation, reproductive rights, and health equity, Dr. Srinivasan promotes the need for health systems to be more inclusive and effective for all bodies. Through her roles in academic settings and prominent forums, she actively champions feminist causes and works to transform healthcare to better serve all populations.Her contributions include creating Planned Parenthood\'s first abortion toolkit specifically designed for Asian American communities, and serving as a co-chair for the Women\'s Mental Health Conference at Yale. In recognition of her advocacy, Serena Williams honored her as a \'Woman of Courage\"in 2020. The following year, she was shortlisted for \'Journalist of the Year\"by SH24, a sexual health initiative led by the NHS. Cosmopolitan India had also acknowledged her as a changemaker in LGBTQ rights in October 2022. On the subject of sexual health and feminism, Dr. Srinivasan\'s written works are regularly featured in outlets such as the Washington Post, Health, Cosmopolitan, and Vogue India.Currently, she is the CEO & co-founder of Fluid Health, a health tech startup connecting women and sexual minorities who have issues related to chronic pelvic pain syndromes with sex therapists. She is also the resident sex columnist at Allure magazine and holds a position on the expert review board at Parents Magazine.Varuna lives in NYC with her husband and puppy. A practicing Buddhist, she loves used books, ornamental tattoos, wine, and photography.
