ABOUT VARUN KURUP

Quoting Harry M Kraemer, former Chairman and CEO of Baxter International Inc. and current Clinical Professor of Strategy at Kellogg school of Management, “the best way to understand business is to gain both depth and breadth in functional operations”. Having worked in three different industries across four functions has most definitely benefited me in realizing this vision.From leading a production team of twenty highly experienced technicians at Mercedes- Benz, to developing electric and pneumatic valves with Caterpillar Inc. and finally managing Bosch Aftermarket’s most profitable product line, I owe everything I have learned to the people I have worked with. The highly cross-functional nature of my work has had an immense impact on how I approach and solve business problems we face day to day.I work best in teams; a good example of this was launching a program for one of our clients, Omniparts - an automotive aftermarket startup - last year. My team spanned three continents, six countries and multiple time zones. Although we faced some hurdles such as scheduling conflicts or the occasional communication misinterpretation, our commitment to our customer to launch the program on time helped us see the checkered flag at the finish line.Outside of work, I enjoy spending as much time as I can with my family and friends. With any spare time left over, I love playing soccer, golf or tennis. I am an avid soccer fan and wake up as early 6am on weekends to catch Arsenal FC play, my favorite sports team. I also spend my time volunteering with a couple of non-profits in the Chicago area that do amazing work rehabilitating people who are going through tough personal situations, a cause very close to my heart.
