About Varughese Cherian
Varughese Cherian is Principal and the aviation sector lead for BuroHappold’s US region. Trained as an electrical engineer,Varughese has more than 35 years’ experience working globally throughout North America, South America, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Varughese has led some of the largest aviation projects in the world, including Terminal B at LaGuardia Airport and Terminal 4 at JFK International Airport in New York, Muscat International Airport in Oman and Abu Dhabi International AirportBesides an extensive aviation experience Varughese has led a number of projects in the cultural and commercial sector as well including the addition and expansion at Philadelphia Museum of Art as well as the Royal Atlantis Resort in Dubai. As an advocate of high performance engineering, Varughese has led a number of low energy, efficient designs, and incorporating sustainable and renewable energy systems. Varughese is currently leading the BuroHappold Engineering design team for the $1.1 billion Terminal Modernization Program at Pittsburgh International Airport.
