About Varnica Arora
PhD student in Psychology at The Graduate Center, City University of New York (CUNY). Her current research project, “Youth Experiences in the Aftermath of Suicidal Behaviors in Rural India” is a psycho-social exploration of how young people narrate experiences of living and re-engaging with life in the aftermath of suicidal acts, and how these experiences are shaped by by social, cultural, and health care ecologies in rural India. A graduate instructor in the Psychology department at the City College of New York, CUNY, Varnica has taught courses in Social Psychology, and designed a new course on Psychology and Social Media. Prior to joining academia, Varnica worked with non-profits in India as a community organizer and trainer, in close allyship with women’s Self-Help Groups (SHG) in Chhattisgarh, India.
