ABOUT RICARDO VARGAS

I’m a people-first executive, ICF-certified coach, and lifelong learner with a career built at the intersection of purpose, performance, and community impact.In my current role as Chief People & Community Officer at Shipt, I oversee all aspects of Human Resources and Community Impact—aligning our people strategy with Shipt’s purpose: sparking the connections that show why every person counts. I focus on building a culture where people thrive, leaders grow, and our work reflects the belief that how we show up each day matters. I also lead Shipt’s economic and social impact agenda—partnering with local organizations, activating our logistical strengths, and creating lasting value in the communities we serve.Before joining Shipt, I spent over 14 years at Target, most recently as Senior Director of Learning & Development, leading enterprise-wide strategies across onboarding, capability building, and leadership development. My work spanned the full ecosystem—from headquarters to stores to supply chain—with a consistent goal: connect learning to real performance and impact.My journey began on the frontlines, working in stores and field HR roles that shaped how I lead today. It’s where I first learned the power of empathy, listening, and leading with care in fast-paced environments. Later, in HR business partner and compensation roles supporting senior leaders at Target’s HQ, I helped align people strategies with enterprise priorities across functions like Finance, Enterprise Services, and Global Supply Chain & Logistics.As the son of immigrants and the first in my family to graduate from college, I carry a deep commitment to expanding access to opportunity—especially in education, food access, and youth development. Whether coaching a senior leader or walking alongside a team in motion, I aim to build spaces where people feel seen, supported, and equipped to grow with intention.
