About Eli Vang
I am a Junior at Milwaukee School of Engineering (MSOE), pursuing a B.S. in Computer Science with a minor in Mathematics. Along with my academic roles, I am affiliated and an active member of four different organizations on Campus, Yu-Gi-Oh! Club, Asian American Student Union, AI Club, and Volleyball Club, all balanced on top of rigorous coursework. Having hands-on experience with both personal and team-based projects, I enjoy applying my skills to solve complex problems for real-life or academic applications. Last summer, I interned as a Data Scientist Intern at Brady Corporation, where I created a dashboard for the Marketing Team to showcase sentimental feedback to help locate areas where the Brady Corporation website/services needed improving. Not only did I work alongside the Marketing Team, but I also had the opportunity to improve my understanding of both Python and Artificial Intelligence by helping the Research and Development Team. This project is where I understood feature selection models, coded by one of my co-workers, to help the R&D Team indicate which features were best correlated with one another and which features could be dropped for overall improvement. Along with my internship, I have contributed to many projects that focus on the use of AI. Whether that was through the MSOE AI Club or personal projects, I am dedicated to implement AI into all of my projects to better my understanding of material at hand and how these can be implemented into real-life applications. One of my more recent projects, using a dataset from Kaggle, I built a Region-Based Convolutional Neural Network for both image classification and object detection.
