ABOUT VANESSA MILLER
The automotive industry is undergoing a profound transformation. As traditional manufacturers and suppliers navigate increasing regulatory scrutiny, rising costs, and the growing complexities of global supply chains, the need for strategic legal counsel has never been greater––from initial contracting to crisis-driven litigation. As a litigation partner at Foley & Lardner LLP and Chair of our Manufacturing Sector – Automotive, I have spent two decades guiding suppliers and manufacturers through the most complex supply chain challenges, from negotiating commercial contracts to resolving high-stakes disputes. My book, Law of the Automotive and Manufacturing Supply Chain: A Handbook for Success, reflects the lessons learned from years of handling major litigations across the industry. It serves as a playbook for companies navigating the evolving realities of supply chain strategy, risk management, and global operations. Automotive supply chain disputes require a deep understanding of both the legal and business landscape, whether in Detroit or on a global scale. With significant experience in international arbitration, I frequently collaborate with law firms abroad to provide U.S. legal insight on cross-border matters. My practice spans every stage of supply chain engagement, counseling clients on contract structuring and negotiation, stepping in when disputes escalate, and leading litigation and arbitration when necessary. As new entrants, particularly tech companies, enter the automotive space, understanding the industry\'s nuances and structuring agreements that mitigate risk has become increasingly important. The automotive industry is evolving, and the legal approach must evolve with it. The complexities of supply chain strategy, dispute resolution, and litigation demand both commercial foresight and legal precision, ensuring that companies are prepared for whatever comes next.
