As a nursing student, I’ve gained hands-on experience supporting healthcare teams and delivering compassionate, patient-centered care. My responsibilities have included obtaining vital signs, assisting with ADLs, and administering medications under supervision, helping me build a strong foundation in clinical communication, time management, and patient safety.I’ve developed advanced skills such as nasogastric tube insertion, Foley catheter placement, IV insertion, IV push medication administration, and wound care. I’ve also documented vital signs, medications, and condition changes in both electronic and paper charting systems, ensuring accurate records and continuity of care.During rotations, I prepared equipment, maintained sterile technique, and supported various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures. I provided patient education on medications, care plans, and disease management, contributing to greater health literacy and engagement.Collaborating with nurses and interdisciplinary teams has strengthened my communication and advocacy skills. I consistently follow infection control and hospital safety protocols, including donning scrubs, using PPE, and maintaining hygiene standards.I’ve also assisted with administrative tasks such as patient transfers and supply organization. Observing experienced nurses has enhanced my clinical judgment and professionalism.Most recently, I completed a 156+ hour capstone preceptorship in a medical-surgical unit on night shift. This immersive experience allowed me to manage a full patient load, apply critical thinking, and adapt to fast-paced, unpredictable environments while ensuring safe, high-quality care.
