Drawing on two decades of energy industry experience, I’m currently the Director of Drax Renewables and Drax Sustainable Commodities. Drax Renewables works with more than 2,300 independent renewable energy generators to help them maximise revenue from electricity generated using wind, solar, hydro and anaerobic digestion (AD). We provide these renewable electricity generators with a route to market, taking care of the administration of their assets and guaranteeing monthly returns. The Drax Sustainable Commodities team manages and trades Renewable Obligation Certificates (ROCs) and Renewable Energy Guarantees of Origin (REGOs) – some of which the Drax Renewables’ independent generation partners provide. These ROCs and REGOs provide transparency to consumers about the proportion of electricity that suppliers source from renewable generation.Aiming to be carbon negative by 2030, Drax also owns and operates a portfolio of renewable electricity generation assets in England and Scotland. Through these generation activities, and our energy supply and solutions work, Drax is enabling a zero carbon, lower cost energy future.
