ABOUT VALLERY BROWN

Vallery Brown has 20 years of experience across the energy and financial industries with proven success of building and leading technical teams. Brown currently serves as the senior vice president of Commercial Operations for Southern Company. In this role, she is responsible for the procurement and management of fuel for the electric generating fleet, forecasting load and optimizing the commitment and dispatch of generating resources. She also leads power and natural gas trading, as well as the billing, settlement and reporting of wholesale transactions. Prior to her current role, Brown served as vice president of Analysis and Structuring within Southern Power Finance. Brown led the organizations covering financial and market analysis, project valuation and structuring efforts for both Southern Power and PowerSecure. Additionally, she led the negotiations and structuring of tax equity partnership transactions with financial institutions on behalf of Southern Power.Before joining Southern Company, Brown worked at Protective Life Corporation, where she was the portfolio manager short-term investments and the assistant portfolio manager for mortgage-backed securities.She holds bachelor\'s degrees in international finance and German, and a master\'s degree in banking and finance from the University of Alabama and is a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) charterholder. She serves on the boards of the CFA Society of Alabama and Red Mountain Grace.
