ABOUT VALERIE MACARAAN
I’m Valerie, I am a clinical social worker, educator, and community worker. I’m a Licensed Social Worker Associate Independent Clinical (LSWAIC) and passionate social work educator committed to healing justice, mental health equity, and community-centered care. As a part-time instructor at the University of Washington School of Social Work, I have the privilege of guiding MSW students through transformative justice frameworks, relational teaching, and critical self-reflection.🧠 Clinically, I work with youth and adults navigating complex mental health challenges, trauma, neurodivergence, and systemic barriers—centering culturally responsive and trauma-informed care. I’m especially dedicated to serving BIPOC communities and uplifting marginalized voices. My practice is rooted in cultural humility, community accountability, and deep belief in the power of collective healing. I strive to build spaces where people feel seen, supported, and empowered.
