ABOUT VALERIE KOWALSKI
I am an adaptable and motivated Social Worker, Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, and Researcher. I have worked for over 3 years experience, receiving 2 promotions, within BronxWorks\'s Adult Homeless Services Department providing direct services to individuals who are unhoused. As a Program Director I have had experience with cross-organizational collaboration, maintaining city contracts, budget management, leading a program with over forty staff members, staff training, new hire onboarding, staff recruitment, and crisis management. As a Social Worker I have provided talk therapy, de-escalation, psychiatric evaluations, and 9.58 removals. As a Peace Corps Volunteer I collaborated with local stakeholders in Zambia to assess community health needs while immersing myself into the culture of the local village I was stationed at. As a researcher I have become detail oriented with multiple years of experience drawing insight from various case studies and data from the project, working toward publication. I am motivated to continue to expand my knowledge and experience advocating and supporting a diverse range of community needs.
