About Valeria Hernández
I’m a recent graduate from Boston University who majored in Film and Television and minored in Business Administration and Management. During my time at Boston University, I became a recipient of Boston University’s prestigious Presidential Scholarship, which is only awarded to around 3% of students, and a member of the College of Communication’s Dean’s List for my academic performance. I’m also featured in the BU admissions pamphlet that is sent to prospective students around the world.I’m an aspiring entertainment industry producer and business executive with work experience at: Discovery Channel (television producing), Entertainment 2 Affect Change (social impact filmmaking and film festival planning), Shoreline Entertainment and the Cannes Film Festival Marché du Film (content acquisitions and sales), A24 (digital film distribution), JJDConsultancy (events), and NBCUniversal (TV distribution). I am also the founder and president of FilmBiz, the first entertainment business club at Boston University. We’ve attracted 100+ members from the BU community and we’ve organized industry education workshops, fun outings, networking opportunities and panels with industry experts from Disney, A24, NBCUniversal, among others.As an ambitious and passionate leader, I wish to make a positive impact in my communities by focusing on diversity and inclusion initiatives. I wish to represent my country of origin, Costa Rica, in the media and entertainment industries and empower other women and people of color to succeed in film. In the future, I will be pursuing an MBA and seeking positions in production, development, management, distribution, acquisitions, and sales.
