ABOUT VALENTINE BONNEAU

After spending almost six years as Head of a specialized department for two auction houses, abroad and in France, I am now looking for a change while remaining in the field of art, culture and heritage. I benefit from a solid classical education (Hypokhâgne & Khâgne Classique, a Bachelor’s degree in Classics, a Master\'s degree in Art History) an MBA in International Art Market and an international work experience. I have excellent language skills (Bilingual French- English and Spanish level B1-B2) and strong writing skills. During my previous experiences in auction houses (Bonhams-Cornette de Saint Cyr Bruxelles, Digard Auction), galleries (Galerie Chenaux, Espace Linda Farrell) and museums (Maidstone Museum, Musée d\'Orsay, Musée Bourdelle), both in the conservation and documentation departments, and after taking intensive preparatory courses for the Concours des Conservateurs du Patrimoine, I learnt and developed the skills specific to these professions : knowledge in conservation and storage, ability to achieve inventory and update databases, to handle artworks (when setting up and dismantling exhibitions, when packing for clients and working with shipping companies, supervising the logistical aspects), to undertake thorough research and proceed with the writing of condition reports, press releases, articles, artworks’ descriptions, the ability to elaborate an interesting scenography and order special furniture if needed, being able to supervise photoshoots and the making of sales or exhibitions’ catalogues with the graphic designer (this includes proofreading and translations), and the capacity to deal with the administrative monitoring and claims. Moreover, I am used to talking to and negotiating with a variety of people, including artists, private individuals, gallery owners, cultural institutions, shipping companies, photographers, public relations officers). Acting as a contact between different stakeholders is a vital part of this job and being able to act as an efficient coordinator means that the project will be successful. I believe that have the skills required to deal with responsibilities and handle delicate and potentially stressful situations. Managing a projet from A to Z whilst respecting a deadline and a given budget is one of my strengths. I will gladly share my knowledge and skills for any task that is submitted to me, whilst learning new ones and putting them into practice every day.
