ABOUT VALENTINA GUERRA PINILLA

Hi! My name is Valentina (She/Her), I am an incoming fourth-year Political Science (BA) student at Brock University, pursuing an academic concentration in International Development. ‍ This summer, I am working as a Summer Student in the International and Government Affairs division of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, where I am learning more about Canada\'s commitments to international nuclear safety, security, and safeguarding. Academically, I am also gaining valuable research experience as a Research Assistant in the Political Science department at Brock University, made possible by receiving a Match of Minds award from Brock\'s Faculty of Social Sciences. ‍ I am highly active in the Brock community as the co-president of the World University Service of Canada (WUSC) local committee, a non-profit organization working to resettle young refugees from Asia, Africa and the Americas through educational opportunities in Canada. This endeavour, in particular, has helped me develop a heightened interest in international development and humanitarian aid. In the near future, I am eager to learn more about diplomacy, geopolitics, defence and development to prepare for a Master\'s degree in International Relations after I graduate with my BA.
