About Val Scrivner

I lead product-focused engineering teams with a people-first approach and enough technical depth to stay meaningfully engaged in the work — from system design and architectural decisions to the day-to-day problem solving that keeps teams unblocked and moving.My background spans product engineering at scale as well as consulting and agency work across diverse industries and company sizes. That range has given me a genuine appreciation for different technical contexts, customer needs, and ways of working. Most recently I\'ve been focused on Analytics and Experimentation products — a natural fit with my math background — including data pipeline architecture and AI-native features, but what has stayed consistent across all of it is a commitment to building reliable, customer-focused products with teams that care about the work.What drives me most is watching engineers grow. I came to engineering management through teaching, and that background shapes how I think about feedback, coaching, and creating space for people to do their best work. I\'m as invested in the growth of the individuals on my team as I am in the products we ship.I\'m drawn to product-focused companies where engineering and product think together, where technical quality and customer impact aren\'t in tension, and where building a strong team culture is seen as part of the job, not separate from it.
