As part of the Bloomberg Data Management Systems (BDMS) team, I work on migrating Bloomberg legacy applications, content, and reporting workflows from Oracle on Windows to PostgreSQL on Linux, ensuring data integrity, high performance, and minimal downtime. This involves refactoring legacy Spring applications into modern Spring Boot microservices, adapting stored procedures, SQL queries, and database designs, and applying Aspect-Oriented Programming (AOP) and validation frameworks to improve maintainability and reliability.Beyond migration, I design and develop Java + Spring Boot APIs and services integrated with Kafka for high-volume, event-driven data ingestion, indexing, and retrieval. Reporting workflows are automated and scheduled on Linux servers, replacing manual Windows processes and improving efficiency. I also build and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, enabling automated builds, testing, and deployments for both legacy and modernized applications, ensuring rapid and reliable delivery. Working closely with product owners, analysts, and infrastructure teams, I define migration strategies, troubleshoot performance issues, optimize PostgreSQL with Redis caching, and implement robust monitoring, logging, and governance mechanisms to ensure scalability, availability, and compliance. This includes troubleshooting complex production issues, improving fault tolerance, and contributing to the overall reliability of BDMS services.
