As part of automotive interior trim development, I performed styling surface analysis and plastic feasibility checks using CATIA. The goal was to ensure that the styling surfaces provided by the design team could be converted into manufacturable plastic components without affecting aesthetics or functionality.During the analysis process, I evaluated the styling Class A surfaces for potential defects and manufacturability issues. This included identifying problems such as surface discontinuity, gaps, sharp edges, insufficient draft angles, and thickness limitations that may affect injection molding.Key activities included:• Performing surface quality checks and continuity analysis• Identifying styling defects and surface irregularities• Checking draft angles for injection molding feasibility• Evaluating plastic thickness and manufacturability constraints• Ensuring the design meets engineering and production requirementsThis process helps bridge the gap between styling intent and engineering feasibility, ensuring that the final plastic component can be manufactured efficiently while maintaining the original design aesthetics.
