As the captain of the school\'s largest house, comprising approximately 150 students aged 12 to 18, I help manage and guide the house in fulfilling its responsibilities alongside and in the absence of school staff. I have played a pivotal role in organising major inter-house and inter-school events, ensuring their smooth execution. Additionally, I serve as an essential liaison between the house, school staff, and student body, facilitating smooth communication and coordination to maintain discipline, teamwork, and house spirit.
ABOUT VAANYA SHEKHAR
I am a high school student with a passion for the written word, spoken argument, and the occasional perfectly-frothed matcha. With aspirations to pursue both law and writing, I’ve spent the past few years sharpening my voice whether it be on the debate floor, in editorial rooms, or through stories that reached over readers across my e-books (written between the ages of 12–14, because sleep is for the weak).Currently, I serve as Editor-in-Chief of my school magazine and hold multiple leadership positions, including House Captain and President of the TED Club. In 2024, I was honored with the Queen’s Commonwealth Essay Competition Gold Award and received my school’s Principal’s Commendation.I’m passionate about using language to lead, advocate, and connect, whether it’s through compelling narratives or persuasive speech. I’m always looking for opportunities to learn, collaborate, and grow (ideally with good coffee in hand).
