ABOUT LUIS GUILHERME UZEDA GARCIA

A mixture of an idealist and a realist who loves a scientifically rewarding and technically challenging problem. Luis has been working with applied research for the past 20 years building bridges between industrial, academic, and governmental institutions. Having lived and worked in several countries, including Brazil, Israel, Germany, Denmark and the US, Luis possesses significant experience in working with and as part of distributed multidisciplinary international teams. Throughout his career, Luis has had gratifying opportunities to imagine, plan, budget, manage, execute and deliver the results of several industrial R&D projects covering a wide range of technology maturity levels. His educational background include a post-doc at MIT Sloan (USA), a PhD degree in Wireless Communications from Aalborg University (Denmark) and an MSc in Digital Signal Processing from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (Brazil). On the academic front, Luis is the author of several cited articles in peer-reviewed journals and conferences in the field of wireless systems and unmanned mining operations and holds several patent applications. Current interests include, but are not limited to, industrial applications of 5G and IoT, Machine Learning, Through-the-Earth Communications, Safe and Secure Cyberphysical Systems. Besides family and work, astronomy, biking, and friends keep him busy and happy.
