ABOUT UWE MUEGGE
I help translation professionals, language service providers, educators, and global organizations use large language models like ChatGPT in ways that improve quality, consistency, and control over the output. I am the developer of PHAT (Process-oriented Human-centric Artificial Intelligence-enabled Translation), a human-centric approach to AI-enabled translation. PHAT is a practical framework for using AI in translation through structured, human-directed workflows that keep human judgment central from preparation to validation. Recent work focuses on AI-enabled translation, terminology management, post-editing, and quality assurance. Current publications include three books on AI in translation, including \'ChatGPT Plus/Pro for Human Translation, Machine-Translation, and Post-editing\'. Other writing projects include a book-length treatment of PHAT as a human-centric framework for AI-enabled translation. Earlier roles include Head of Terminology at Facebook, leadership positions in global language management, and more than ten years of postgraduate teaching in translation technology. Earlier academic work includes service as Chair of the Translation and Localization Management program at the Middlebury Institute of International Studies. Current work includes consulting, training, speaking, and educational support in: • AI-enabled translation workflows; • PHAT implementation; • terminology management; • translation quality assurance; • post-editing and machine translation; • localization strategy; • translation technology training. For consulting, training, or speaking opportunities: send me a message through LinkedIn.
