ABOUT UTTEEYO DASGUPTA

I am a Professor of Economics. My research uses experimental and behavioral methods to study how incentives, beliefs, and social preferences shape economic decision-making. A central theme of my research is understanding behavior in environments where social identity, institutional constraints, uncertainty, and belief formation interact with incentives in non-standard ways. I have studied training and task autonomy in labor markets, peer and rank effects on cognition and preferences, belief formation and corruption, discrimination and gender differences in decision-making, trust and communication in psychological games, and choice under risk and ambiguity.My work has appeared in journals including The Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of the European Economic Association, Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization, Journal of Development Studies, and Journal of Public Economics. I am Co-Editor of the Handbook of Experimental Development Economics and currently serve as Associate Editor at the Journal of Economic Behavior & Organization and Economic Inquiry. I am a Research Fellow at IZA and the Global Labor Organization.I am actively engaged in mentoring graduate students and early-career scholars in experimental and behavioral economics. I teach undergraduate and graduate courses in behavioral economics. I have collaborated extensively with researchers across the U.S, Europe, and South Asia. I am interested in collaborations at the intersection of behavioral economics, development economics, and applied microeconomics, especially projects that combine theory with experimental design. microeconomics.
