About Urmil Shah
Over the last 12+ years, I have experienced tech and startups, as a founder, operator and investor. I am currently a pre-seed investor with Entrepreneurs First, an early stage fund and accelerator, where we back exceptional technical founders really early, pre-team and pre-idea, and help them build companies from scratch. Before this, I spent 5 years at Swiggy where I was part of several zero to one journeys across our food and grocery businesses. Before that I co-founded Carnot in 2015, a full-stack IOT platform for the auto industry, now acquired by Mahindra. I learnt the ropes of business with Bain & Company and am a Mechanical Engineer from IIT Bombay. Outside of work, I enjoy the outdoors and feel the best way to spend time with others is in nature and on foot. I also love to play the guitar and am an avid tennis player.

We\'re an early stage fund and accelerator, and we invest in people really early - pre-team and pre-idea, and help them build companies from scratch. I joined the EF India leadership team in 2023 as we were rebuilding the program in Bangalore. In that period we ran 3 cohorts, backed 125+ founders and invested in 25+ companies across AI, deep tech and consumer. Many of these have gone on to raise follow on capital from some of the best investors in India and SF- from W23 - CodeAnt, Contineu, Hanomi, Repello, SideCar- from W24 - Aule Space, faff, Locksmith Bio, Ressl, Unsiloed, Waterfly- from S25 - stealth energy company… and expecting many more to join this list soon :)
