Provide to current and prospective EOPS/CARE students personal counseling, career development, and assessment for individuals or groups, as well as, academic advising with regard to the College’s occupational and vocational programs, and programs which prepare students to graduate and transfer;• Interpret EOPS/CARE eligibility standards, admissions procedures and college regulations;• Provide orientations, program advisement, and follow-up counseling for new, continuing, and potential EOPS and CARE students;• Assess needs, recommend success strategies and monitor student progress for adherence to EOPS/CARE standards;• Ability and willingness to serve as liaison between campus and community programs;• Implement services in a collaborative manner involving the active participation of the individual, intended to assist individuals to enhance their natural supports and other available resources;• Demonstrated leadership skills, e.g. coordinating programs or activities, initiating new services, leading workgroups, etc;• Assist students with the following appeal processes and waiver: Financial aid, enrollment priority, remedial coursework, probation and course repetition;• Conduct workshops related to student success and transfer;• Develop strategies, resources, and materials for counseling students in a multicultural environment;• Complete letters of recommendation for students for transfer admittance;• Assist in the implementation of special EOPS and CARE activities including outreach activities;• Participate in professional development activities and maintain current knowledge in the discipline;• Demonstrate sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college faculty, staff and students;• Participate in program planning and staff development;• Participate in shared governance committees (Academic Senate, Accreditation, etc.);

I’ve served as a counselor since 2016 and currently support students through EOPS at Mt. San Antonio College. As a first-generation Chicanx and LGBTQ+ professional, I bring both lived experience and a deep commitment to equity in higher education. My work is rooted in healing-centered practices and social justice. I’m passionate about creating brave spaces—where students feel safe to be vulnerable, build authentic community, and realize their full potential. I believe transformative education begins with relationships built on trust, empathy, and belonging.
