ABOUT UNMASKED MENTAL HEALTH

We are unmasked mental health, a not for profit organisation hoping to become a registered charity in the near future. Founded in late 2018, and incorporated jan 2019, by three Calderdale gents Doug Dennison, Logan Smith, and RobinCunningham, who have all experienced mental ill health, either personally or through loved ones. Our initial aim was to develop a free to download and free to use app, for anyone over the age of 16, who is in a state of poor mental health, and who felt unable or unwilling to contact their GP, or the NHS and ask for help or to attend counselling sessions. This was to provide a safe, stable regulated means of communicating with others who find themselves unable to face Physical contact. Soon after the app development Began, it became apparent that there was a greater requirement for help In our local area, and a decision was taken to open a Halifax office, initially Doug would become a full time employee of the company, Logan following 1 month later, and by mar 2019 we were trading out of our offices, spending the days researching ways to make the app easier to use, and always abiding by our principal that we didn’t want advertising on the app, as this could be targeting vulnerable individuals. Forward 3 years, and we now offer face to face weekly support hubs, staffed and run, totally by our fantastic volunteer facilitators. We have 1 - 1 counselling sessions in our Halifax office, subsidised by us, through our fundraising campaigns. The last 2 years have been difficult for us, as for everyone, but we have survived 18 months with virtually no income, Necessitating Doug and Logan taking jobs outside the business, to survive. We feel that we have become stronger as a result of all this, and now offer mental health training, workplace help for companies, who wish to offer mental health wellbeing to their employees, and offer our services to local sixth form students on a weekly basis. Our services are in greater demand weekly, this has prompted our decision to apply for full charity status and we hope to achieve this fully in the coming month. i•••@unmaskedmentalhealth.co.uk
