ABOUT UMAR MASUD
I am a researcher and developer in the field of AI/ML, having ample experience working with multimedia data. I have advanced knowledge of Machine Learning and Deep Learning, building from first principles. Currently, I am a Member of Technical Staff at Cerebras, where I am working with systems that produce the fastest inference for the largest AI models. Previously, I interned at Samsung AI Center Toronto, doing research on computational imaging and camera technology. My research interest has led to five publications so far, including one in the ECCV 2022 workshop, exploring a variety of topics in image recognition, domain generalisation, inverse problems, self-supervised learning, etc. Often I have defined research problems, found novel solutions, designed experiments and implemented pipelines - prototyping the best models and understanding the complete ML lifecycle. I love to make and own end-to-end projects that solve real-life problems. I am also highly enthusiastic about innovation, ideas, entrepreneurship, community, and the like. A keen interest in the start-up ecosystem.
