As a Senior Data Engineer, my role encompasses a wide range of responsibilities focused on managing and optimizing data infrastructure and workflows within my organization. I bring my expertise to the table by effectively managing and migrating legacy tooling into a new, modern data offering.One of my key tasks is to set up and implement dbt (Data Build Tool) across the entire business. By leveraging this powerful data transformation and modelling tool, I streamline data workflows, enhance data quality, and enable more efficient data analysis and reporting processes.I also take charge of the continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipeline using Jenkins. This involves automating the build, testing, and deployment of data pipelines to ensure reliability and efficiency throughout the data engineering lifecycle.In addition, I leverage Terraform, an infrastructure-as-code tool, to manage and provision the necessary resources for our data infrastructure. By adopting infrastructure automation practices, I enhance scalability, manageability, and reproducibility in our data environment.Another crucial aspect of my role is managing Matillion, an extract, load, and transform (ELT) tool. By configuring and optimizing Matillion, I ensure efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading processes, supporting our data integration and analytics initiatives.My role also heavily involves BI creation, to that effect I\'ve worked on several projects that have seen my domain in FX, risk, compliance and regulatory reporting grow.The tools I mainly use in this role are Snowflake, Jenkins, Rockset, Python, SQL, Terraform and some light bash scripting.

As a passionate Data Engineer at Currency Cloud (Visa Cross Border Solutions), I am actively participating in the transition from our conventional batch-based ETL system to a contemporary data architecture. My role has empowered me to construct and execute regulatory, client, and internal data models using dbt, thereby significantly improving our data architecture.A notable achievement of mine has been the successful transition of a crucial process for client risk and collateral reporting into dbt. Additionally, I manage, write, and deploy numerous regulatory reports. This has necessitated a deep dive into the business domain to swiftly address business queries. Furthermore, my extensive experience in data modelling has been instrumental in answering these business questions effectively and efficiently. This has optimized our operations and enhanced efficiency. I have also played a key role in shifting our stack from a batch-based ETL approach to a replication approach using Kafka, S3, and Snowflake, thereby eliminating the need for cumbersome data contracts with microservices operational databases.My responsibilities extend beyond mere data engineering, encompassing facets of Data Ops and Data Governance. I have employed Terraform to establish our Snowflake environment, enhanced our monitoring and alerting capabilities with Datadog, and steered our data engineering function towards embracing superior software engineering principles.In my leisure time, I relish the opportunity to broaden my understanding of data engineering through podcasts, books, and blogs. I also derive pleasure from contributing to the StackOverflow community, where I respond to queries and participate in discussions.
