About Ulysse Darmet

Did you have a childhood dream? I did, and it was to create robots.I have followed this dream my entire life. I began programming when I was only twelve, creating small video games on the family computer. When choosing what to study, I knew that engineering was my only option. While attending the Rennes National Institute of Applied Sciences I learned how to move a motor using lines of code. Amazing. I needed nothing more than that to convince my friends to participate with me in the French Robotics Cup, where we placed fifth out of 180 national teams! Thrilled by the experience, I finished my studies with a semester abroad at the Rochester Institute of Technology where I continued to learn about robots and artificial intelligence.Today this childhood dream has become my life. After graduation, I worked at the CEA, a public french robotics laboratory on a complex project involving robotics and deep learning. I was then lucky enough to join the French unicorn Exotec while it was still a team of 30 people, and be the lead developer of an entirely new robotics product: the Skypicker. After 5 years and a project team that grew from 2 to 12 people, this baby of mine has now traveled the world and is now working 24/7 in several industrial facilities.
