Since August 2002 I have been Head of Legal Affairs & Insurances with Andritz Hydro GmbH (former VA TECH Escher Wyss, Sulzer Hydro, Sulzer Escher Wyss; yearly turnover roughly € 180 Mio. with about 500 employees) with a focus on international sales contracts for hydro power plants and pitch propellors. Since 2006, I have been authorised signatory (Prokurist) for the company and since 2012 I have been responsible for servicing our group\'s Compact Hydro Division on a global basis and since 2018 I have been heading the Global Legal Practice Group for HYDRO Large Projects.I report to the Managing Director, to the Regional General Counsel EMEA and to the General Counsel. I negotiate contracts in German and English on a day-to-day basis and less frequently also in Spanish. Occasionally, I also work on contracts in French and Portuguese. Complex constellations of business and thus contract structures, challenge me to find clear and consistent contract structures with the parties involved.For nine years, I was lead counsel for a set of international arbitrations and litigations in several jurisdictions, which we could turn into a big success!I am an excellent team player and I feel responsible for the overall outcome of a project even if certain issues do not fall into the classic tasks of a lawyer. I am heading a department with two more lawyers and two assistants. I am a member of the German bar and I carry a master of laws’ degree (LL.M) from an American law school. I am chairman of VDMA’s contracts’ committee. VDMA is the German Engineering Association. I am member of the legal councils of VDMA and BDI (\"Bund der deutschen Industrie\") and I spoke at legal conferences such as Petersberger Schiedstage, FIDIC International User‘s Conference or the IBA Construction Law Conference.
