About Ullas Gargi
Technical founder and leader in scaled ML, recommender systems, video recommendations, distributed processing and large-scale content understanding, search, discovery & ranking, media analysis and classification, and image, audio, and video processing.I started my career in research at HP, moved to research at Google before migrating to product teams. I\'ve worked on at least 4 different recommendation systems in different contexts. I enjoy building teams and products from scratch. Within the streaming music space, I have worked across all sides of the content understanding, publishing, search & discovery and user feature facets. One of the founding team that launched YouTube Music, I worked on content publishing, corpus, data & discovery. Recently I have worked on large scale content understanding, scaling machine learning to understand the largest, most diverse audio+video music corpus on the planet and launch innovative features. My previous gig at Meta Shops Ads involved driving technical strategy & execution to help create the future of shopping on social platforms to deliver a great experience for buyers and return for advertisers via ML for content understanding, ranking and surfacing.Since 2023 I have been on the Instagram Trust & Safety team, keeping users safe on the platform.
