I believe that each of us has a destiny or ultimate purpose on this earth and my purpose is to create a path for students to tap into theirs. Whether it’s through policy or practice, my work has centered on creating a seamless, enjoyable and even inspiring application process for college bound students from the point of inquiry all the way to enrollment.My strength lies in my ability to make data driven decisions that support the unique strategies of the institutions I’ve worked for, as well as my ability to build strong partnerships and alliances with various stakeholders. Beyond this, however, my greatest offering lies in my ability to understand the expressed needs of students and their families and to create processes, systems and platforms of service that are fully responsive and sufficient. My successes have run the gamut from increasing new student enrollment levels from 15 to 85%(witnessed over a 5 year period). However, I have never lost sight of the fact that these numbers translate into real lives touched and more destinies within view.I often think back to my days as an Admissions Counselor when I first started in this field. I was attending a standing room only event, representing a prestigious college when I had to deliver a presentation about the school and the admissions process. By engaging the art of storytelling, I was able to really connect with the students and parents and ultimately received a standing ovation.before the formal presentation had even started. That moment was pivotal for me because it was then that I understood that I had the ability to make others excited about the admissions process. Since then my aim has been to keep them engaged, inspired and moving closer and closer towards realizing their dreams.Institutions: Spelman College, Oglethorpe University, Hollins University, Bennett College and Fayetteville State University.
