ABOUT UDESHIKA KARIYAWASAM.
A highly motivated Hopkins trained PhD scientist specializing in lung immunology, where I conduct cutting-edge research in lung immunology and infectious diseases. My mission is to advance the understanding of the immune responses and develop novel therapies for NLRP3 driven auto-inflammatory diseases and respiratory diseases, such as COVID-19, tuberculosis, and asthma.I have a strong background in immunology, T cell/B cell biology, cell culture processes, protein purification protocols, biochemical and cell-based assays, and molecular biology, with extensive knowledge of the drug development process and global regulations. I have also developed expertise in therapeutic antibody development, gene editing, and bioassay development, using advanced techniques such as qPCR, flow-cytometry, ELISA, and MSD. I have contributed to multiple publications in peer-reviewed journals and presented my findings at international conferences. I work independently as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating superb organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
