About Ujjwal Relan
A hustler at heart, I am driven by the challenge of solving complex governance problems using technology and data. Over the past 7+ years, I’ve worked at the intersection of governance and technology, partnering with the Governments of India, Haryana, and Uttar Pradesh to drive impact across education, benefit delivery, health, COVID management, AI in governance, and more. At Samagra, I wore multiple hats, including nearly three years as Chief of Staff to the CEO & Founder, where I helped shape the organization’s growth strategy while driving both internal and external initiatives. Recognizing the growing role of AI in governance, I then pivoted to strengthening our technology and data portfolio—leading efforts to leverage AI for some of the most pressing governance challenges. A highlight of this journey was leading the team behind Kumbh SahAIyak, an AI-powered multilingual bot designed to assist millions of pilgrims during Mahakumbh 2025, which was launched by the Prime Minister of India in December 2024. Currently, I’m back to government consulting, focused on two critical areas: streamlining welfare benefit delivery in Andhra Pradesh and reimagining the judiciary with the Kerala High Court and the PUCAR collective (pucar.org). Across all my work so far, the focus has been on moving the needle on developmental outcomes in close collaboration with governments.
