ABOUT TYLER TORELL
My path to this work was not accidental.I spent years in law enforcement and corrections learning how to show up for people in their hardest moments. How to build trust quickly, read a room accurately, and stay present when the stakes are high. I did not realize it at the time, but those years were preparing me for a career in major gift development.The skills are more similar than people expect. Sitting across from someone, understanding what they care about most deeply, and connecting their generosity to something that genuinely changes lives. That is what I do every day at Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge, one of the largest faith based addiction recovery organizations in the country.In four years I have grown from Manager to Director to Senior Director of Strategic Partnerships. I lead a team building the lasting partnerships that fund transformative recovery programs across Minnesota. Outside of MnTC, I serve as Chair of the Board of Directors at Grace Manor Ministries, where I work alongside executive leadership on strategy, governance, and long term sustainability.I am also paying close attention to where this field is heading. The fundraisers who learn to pair genuine relationship skills with smart use of AI tools will be the most effective advancement professionals of the next decade.
